Shamanic Healing

All nature is doing her best each moment to make us well – she exists for no other end. Do not resist her.

Henry David Thoreau

Call of the Wild

I was introduced to shamanism in 2013. I was on a retreat weekend at the Kripalu Center and took a workshop about the parallels between Yoga and Shamanism. Something about it immediately resonated with me. Growing up, I was fascinated by animals and loved spending time in the woods. It made perfect sense that we could heal and empower ourselves to by connecting to the energy and forces of nature. A year later, I booked my first session with Taita Itzhak Beery. One of the first things he told me was, “You’re a healer.”

At the time, I was confused. “Wait… I’m not going to be a Broadway star?” But I realized over time that everything I truly wanted from the theater – community, acceptance, open-hearted love, bettering the world through imagination and connection – could be found and shared through the healing arts. I love helping others dispel their limiting beliefs to embrace their authentic selves, connect to their purpose, and cultivate a life that reflects these. And, the kind of theater I’ve come to most love involves archetypal entities, natural forces, deep examination of humanity, poetry and song that elevates the mundane, and healing through shared experience – all hallmarks of shamanic healing. It even aligned with the things I came to love about sharing origami: rediscovering the spark of creativity, access to flow state, and crafting animals (I keep origami totems of my power animals on my altar).

I continued working with shamanic practices along with other energy healing techniques, getting certified in Reiki and studying astrology, tarot, shadow work, etc. Finally, I traveled to Ecuador with Itzhak to study directly with indigenous elders, learning to administer the traditional Limpia cleansing ceremony and receiving initiatory plant medicine. It is now my pleasure and privilege to share these ancient techniques and bring healing, comfort, and strength to others.

“Both the shamanic and theater practices aspire to circumvent our skeptical, cynical and critical logical mind by creating a sacred non-ordinary space and reality in which physical life and belief system can be challenged and transcended.” – Itzhak Beery

Holding Space

A shamanic practitioner helps to create and hold sacred space for the client to see, feel, and heal. If you are carrying heavy energy, feeling disconnected from your body, or navigating a major life transition, I help clear away the blocks and recalibrate your heart to its natural, loving vitality. In order to serve your highest good, our healing sessions may include:

Traditional Shamanic Practices

  • La Limpia: A traditional Andean cleansing ritual, using elemental tools (sugarcane rum (trago), Agua Florida, plants, feathers, eggs) to clear negative energy from the auric field.
  • Shamanic Journeying: Meditative journeying to connect with your spirit animals and allies, reclaiming your personal protection and innate power.
  • Munay-Ki Rites: A series of nine energetic transmissions from the ancient Peruvian tradition that initiate you as a healer, seer, creator, and one aligned to personal wisdom and purpose.
  • Counseling and Integration: Grounding, intuitive dialogue to translate spiritual insights into actionable steps for your everyday life.

Integrative Modalities

  • Breath and Voice Work: Incorporating specialized breath, voice, and physical practices to expand your presence and move stagnant energy in your body. See my Voice and Speech page for more information.
  • Reiki: a Yogic energy healing technique rediscovered in Japan that uses gentle hand placements on or just above the body to channel life-force energy, promoting deep relaxation, stress reduction, and natural healing.
  • Intuitive Visioning Development: Everyone has capacity for intuitive perception, and there are exercises that help develop confidence in seeing intuitively and creatively.
  • Readings: Utilizing Astrology, Tarot, and other means to provide perspective and guidance.
  • *Origami Totems: Whether it’s a power animal or other symbol, I can either fold or teach you to fold a model that has personal significance and you can keep somewhere special (on your desk, altar, etc.) to act as a physical reminder and reconnect you to its meaning. These can be infused with positive energy, burned in a fire ritual, or held as a touchstone for meditation. *If you’re interested in a full origami/mindfulness workshop, visit Origami Workshops/Lessons for more information.)

Healing is a collaboration between the practitioner, the client, and spirit. My goal is to help you get out of your head and back into the alive, joyful pursuit of your own humanity. I am here for you to succeed.

Our Sessions

We start with “plática” – getting to know you, hearing what you’re coming in with, and discussing what you’re looking to work on through this healing. We may also use traditional diagnostic methods like candle reading, egg reading, card reading, or chart reading to get more information. From there, we move into whichever healing modality feels most appropriate for the task at hand. If you’re specifically interested in receiving a specific one (Specifically wanting Reiki, Limpia, Shamanic Journey, etc.), we’ll make sure to factor that in. After the healing work, we’ll debrief about your experience and discuss next steps.
